That Time of Year

lyrics

Somebody's dressed the dogs in jumpers
And its not snowing outside but there's something coming out of a can and I cannot breathe
And if I'm offered another tea, I'm gonna scream
I think it might just be that time of year

Yo Rudolph sorry to hear about your plight
Can't believe Santa Claus used you as a reading light
And in the north pole presents stacking up the shelves
I told you Nic these long hours are bad for your 'ealth (and your elves)
I had an advent calendar catastrophe
You'll never guess what was staring back at me
I opened it hoping to find a chocolate
But it was just a picture, what am I supposed to do with that?

Somebody's dressed the dogs in jumpers
And its not snowing outside but there's something coming out of a can and I cannot breathe
And if I'm offered another tea, I'm gonna scream
I think it might just be that time of year

And don't even mention monopoly
My family can never play it properly
I ate all my sprouts and my broccoli
So why has everybody started mocking me?
Left the house in a harrumph I hate monopoly
I sold all my hotels, went on a shopping spree
Shop assistant's looking shocked at me
Apparently outside your living room it's not valid currency
Especially on Christmas eve

Somebody's put a paper hat on the cat and she's not happy
And its not snowing outside but there's something coming out of a can and I cannot breathe
And if I'm offered another tea, I'm gonna scream
I think it might just be that time of year

And you can call me an old man
But Christmas isn't Christmas 'til we watched The Snowman
And we can hold hands, pull crackers
'What you get?'
'I got a small pair of maracas!'
It's not about individual religions
This time of year apparently had strong pagan traditions
And whether you're an atheist or celebrating Hanukkah
Let's celebrate together commemorate how wrong we were
To not blast harmonica, tell our families we love them
Drink mulled wine by the gallon, mince pies by the dozen
It's about your presence, more than getting presents over time we mostly lost them
Now Christmas day with no hangover is a Christmas I've forgotten

Somebody's swiftly moved the hat from the cat and it's residing on Grandad
And its not snowing outside but there's something coming out of a can and I cannot breathe
And if I'm offered another tea, I'm gonna scream
I think it might just be that time of year
